marilyn and bill


These are my parents during their high school courtship in Millburn, New Jersey. Class of 1944. Theirs was a classic love story by all accounts - kind of the like the Liz and Dick of their day minus all the hair and makeup and backlot shenanigans.

My dad was voted "Most Sophisticated" which I think meant he had a talent for charming the ladies and the ability to mix a good, stiff drink. Mom was voted "Best Looking" and she absolutely was. They lived happily ever after until they didn't.

To this day I try to have a one-sentence witty comment in my back pocket while giving good face.
